What is Cantharone Plus used for?

Cantharone Plus, with the chemical name cantharidin, salicylic acid, and podophyllin, is a topical liquid used to treat plantar warts caused by viruses. This condition occurs when the virus infects the basal layer of the skin.

This medication can reduce the thickness of treatment-resistant warts and can also be used for warts under or around the nail.

This topical product is available in Cantharone Plus 1/30/2% in 7.5 mL and 15 mL bottles.

How does Cantharone Plus work?

This drug primarily works by forming a blister underneath the wart. Forming a blister leads to the killing of the wart as it cuts the blood supply.

Cantharone Plus application is usually painless, although blisters can cause pain, itch, inflammation, and fluid.

How to use Cantharone Plus

To start, read the medication information leaflet that comes with this prescription medication. Do not use this type of drug if you have not yet fully understood all the drug information and precautions written in the guide. If you have inquiries regarding this prescription topical liquid or need additional medical advice, you should ask your doctor or pharmacist.

This topical medication must only be applied externally. Use a pointed wooden applicator stick to apply this medication. Apply one layer of the liquid to the wart and about 1 to 3 mm around the wart. Put a bandage on it for about 5 to 6 hours, then wash it and allow it to dry. You may apply a new bandage if necessary.

Remember to use this medication exactly as prescribed. Do not alter your Cantharone Plus dosage or frequency as it is based on your overall medical condition and response to the medication. In addition, you must not stop using this drug abruptly unless advised.
