Entresto is a combination drug which contains two active chemical substances: Sacubitril, a type of neprilysin inhibitor, and Valsartan, a type of angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB). Another strength is ENTRESTO 49/51 mg with 49 mg sacubitril and 51 mgvalsartan. These are pale yellow and embossed with“NVR” and “L1”. Lastly, ENTRESTO 97/103 mg, (sacubitril 97 mg and valsartan 103 mg) is available as light pink tablets, embossed with “NVR” and “L11”.
How to Use Entresto
Entresto is a prescription drug and should always be used as per your doctor’s or pharmacist’s directions. Initial dosage will be decided by the doctor on the basis of your disease and medication history. Entresto tablets are to be swallowed with or without food.
The recommended starting dosage is usually one 24 mg/26 mg tablet or 49 mg/51 mg tablet twice per day. The dose should be taken in the morning and in the evening.The doctor will monitor the progress of your treatment and will adjust the dose until the best results are achieved. Common maintenance dose is one 97 mg/103 mg tablet in the morning and one in the evening.
Your doctor will most likely conduct a blood test to check for potassium levels. In case the medicine interferes with your renal function or blood pressure, the doctor may reduce the dose or ask you to stop the medication.
