What is Estrace?

Estrace, with the generic name estradiol, is an oral medication used to manage moderate to severe vasomotor symptoms and vaginal and vulvar atrophy due to menopause. It is also used to treat several other conditions, such as breast cancer, advanced-androgen carcinoma of the prostate, and hypoestrogenism linked to castration, hypogonadism, and primary ovarian failure. It is also used to prevent osteoporosis, especially for post-menopausal women.

This estrogen derivative is responsible for maintaining and developing the female reproductive system and secondary sexual characteristics. Estradiol is also known as the principal intracellular human estrogen and is more potent than metabolites – estrone and estriol. This hormone is known to modulate the pituitary secretion of luteinizing hormone (LH), gonadotropins, and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) through a negative feedback mechanism.

This is available in Estrace dosage (generic: estradiol) 0.5 mg tablet forms.
