Nocdurna Uses

This oral medication is indicated to treat nocturia caused by excessive urination at night in adults who awaken at least two times per night to urinate. It contains desmopressin, which belongs to a class of drugs known as antidiuretics (also known as vasopressin analogs).

How does Nocdurna work?

Nocturia is when you wake up from the intended sleep time because of the desire to void. Typically, this is due to low levels of vasopressin at night, among other factors.

When this medication is taken correctly and absorbed into the bloodstream, it mimics the effects of naturally produced vasopressin in the body. It helps regulate vasopressin levels by making the kidneys store water instead of getting rid of it in the urine. As a result, this action leads to less urine production at night.

Nocdurna Dosage

The dosage and frequency of the Nocdurna tablet differ from person to person. It will depend on the severity of the patient’s condition, gender, and tolerance to the medication. This drug is available in disintegrating tablets with two strengths: 25 mcg and 50 mcg.

The recommended daily dose for male patients in treating nocturia is 50 mcg. Meanwhile, for women, the suggested dosage is 25 mcg.

Do not increase or alter your dose without consulting your doctor, as this may make you more prone to unwanted side effects of this medication.
