Latuda (lurasidone) Indications

Latuda, generic name lurasidone, is an oral medication used to treat schizophrenia among adults and children 13 years of age and older. It helps manage symptoms such as hallucinations, disorganized thinking and speech, delusions, and suspiciousness.

Latuda is also indicated for the management of depressive episodes linked to bipolar 1 disorder. For this condition, Latuda can be given to adults and children 10 years of age and older. It helps improve mood, energy level, appetite, and sleep.

Latuda is classified as an atypical antipsychotic. It helps restore the balance of neurotransmitters in the brain. Neurotransmitters like dopamine, serotonin, and noradrenaline are chemicals that allow nerve cells to communicate normally with each other.
