Description

What is Edarbyclor used for?

Edarbyclor (generic name: azilsartan medoxomil and chlorthalidone) is an oral medication indicated to lower blood pressure among hypertensive patients who cannot be adequately controlled with monotherapy and those who are likely to need multiple medications to maintain normal blood pressure. By addressing hypertension, its complications like kidney problems, strokes, and heart attacks can be prevented.

This is available in Edarbyclor 40/25 mg and 40/12.5 mg tablet forms.

How does Edarbyclor work?

This drug is a combination of angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) and thiazide-like diuretic. It works by blocking the vasoconstrictor and aldosterone-secreting effects of the angiotensin II through the selective blocking of the binding of angiotensin II to the angiotensin I receptors. It also has a diuretic effect with elevated excretion of sodium and chloride. It leads to the decrease of extracellular fluid volume, plasma volume, total exchangeable sodium, cardiac output, glomerular filtration rate, and renal plasma flow.

How to use Edarbyclor

To begin, read the medication guide or information leaflet that comes with this prescription product. Do not take any antihypertensive drug if you have not yet fully understood the drug information and precautions printed in the guide. If you need additional medical advice or have inquiries regarding your treatment, you may ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Take this tablet orally. This is usually prescribed once daily. It is best to take this medication 4 hours before going to bed to avoid waking up to urinate.
