Sustiva is an antiviral medicine that prevents human immunodeficiency cells (HIV) from multiplying in the body. Sustiva is used to treat HIV which causes acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). Sustiva is not a cure for HIV or AIDS.
Sustiva should be stored at room temperature away from heat and moisture.
Do not use Sustiva if you are allergic to efavirenz. Inform your doctor about all of the prescription and non-prescription drugs that you use. Before using Sustiva, tell your doctor if you have liver disease (including Hepatitis B or C), high cholesterol, or if you have taken delavirdine(Rescriptor) or nevirapine(Viramune) and they were not effective in treating you.
