Agrylin is used to treat people with high blood platelet levels due to problems with bone marrow. Agrylin is a platelet reducing medicine that prevents blood clots.

Certain medical conditions can interact with Agrylin. Tell your doctor if you have any medical conditions, especially if you are pregnant or plan on becoming pregnant, if you are breastfeeding. Agrylin is harmful to unborn and nursing babies. Tell your doctor if you are taking any prescription or non prescription medication. Some medicines may interact and cause unwanted side effects. If you have heart, liver, or kidney disease, tell your doctor before taking Agrylin.

What special warning(s) should I be aware of when taking Agrylin/Anagrelide?

This medication can cause dizziness or drowsiness. These effects can become worse if you take Agrylin with alcohol. Use this medication with caution and do not drive or perform any dangerous tasks until you know how you react to Agrylin. Hot weather and exercise can increase your risk of becoming dizzy, faint, or drowsy. Exercise with caution and keep yourself hydrated while using Agrylin. This medication can increase your risk of sunburn. Avoid direct sunlight, sunlamps, or tanning booths until you know how you react to Agrylin. Avoid activities that can cause bruising or injury. Agrylin can reduce the number of clot forming cells in your blood. Tell your doctor if you are experiencing unusual bruising or bleeding, or if you have dark, tarry, or bloody stools. Tell any doctor that treats you that you are using Agrylin. You may need to have lab tests performed on your liver function, blood counts, kidney function, and blood pressure while using Agrylin. Attend all of your scheduled appointments.

Seek emergency medical attention if you experience any of these signs of an allergic reaction to Agrylin: rash, hives, difficulty breathing, tightness in the chest, or swelling of the mouth, lips, tongue, or face. Call your doctor if you experience any o

Less serious side effects include: back pain; cough; diarrhea; dizziness; drowsiness; gas; general body discomfort; headache; joint or muscle weakness; loss of appetite; nausea; stomach pain; tiredness; upset stomach; vomiting; or weakness.

How should I take Agrylin/Anagrelide?

Use Agrylin as instructed by your doctor. Read the prescription label on the medicine for dosing instructions. Take Agrylin by mouth with or without food. Taking Agrylin with food can help reduce stomach upset. If you miss a dose of Agrylin, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses of Agrylin at once.
