Iopidine Eyedrops Uses

Iopidine Eyedrops, with the generic name apraclonidine hydrochloride, is an ophthalmic solution indicated to prevent or control postsurgical elevation in IOP (intraocular pressure), especially among patients who underwent argon laser trabeculoplasty, argon laser iridotomy, and Nd: YAG posterior capsulotomy. By decreasing high pressure in the eye, reduced vision or blindness can be prevented.

This is available in Iopidine Eyedrops 0.5 % ophthalmic solution.

How do Iopidine Eyedrops work?

This alpha-2-adrenergic agonist has two actions. It decreases aqueous humor production by constricting the afferent ciliary process vessels, and it increases the uveoscleral outflow. This type of ophthalmic medication does not have any significant membrane-stabilizing activity or local anesthetic effect but may have minimal impact on cardiovascular parameters.
